Each year, three CUSOs (Credit Union Service Organizations) come together to collect food donations to help support their local food shelves. This year, CU Companies, a CUSO based out of Minnesota, competed against two other CUSOs who joined forces, CU Community, based out of Tennessee, and CU Alliance, based out of Texas, in a friendly competition to see who could collect the most donations.
For six weeks, employees brought in food donations to help out families in need. The competition was fierce, but it was CU Community and CU Alliance that came out on top with a combined total of 16,065 items. CU Companies had a total of 13,192 items. CU Companies paid for a pizza lunch for the employees at CU Community and CU Alliance as their winning prize.
Brad Crandall, CU Companies CEO, applauded the efforts of the participating CUSOs. “Each year we enjoy the friendly competition with our fellow CUSOs, but knowing how many families are impacted with the donations collected is what makes me so proud to be a part of a wonderful organization,” said Crandall.
CU Companies donated its collected items to the Ralph Reeder Food Shelf. CU Community’s items went to Knoxville Area Rescue Missions and Second Harvest Food Bank. The items collected by CU Alliance were donated to Cy Hope.
