On any given night, there are more than 6,000 homeless young people staying on the streets in Minnesota.
HOPE 4 Youth is a Twin Cities non-profit dedicated to fighting, and one day ending, youth homelessness in our area. HOPE 4 Youth began in March of 2013, when it opened its first drop-in center - a place where homeless people, or those at risk of becoming homeless, can find shelter, food and a place to rest.
Drop-in centers close at a certain time each night, though, and the young people who visit have to find an overnight shelter. In response to this, HOPE 4 Youth was able to fund and open a long-term, transitional housing program in 2016. HOPE Place now houses a dozen young people who stay an average of 12 to 24 months. During that time they learn skills they need to move beyond homelessness and re-enter the community with a chance of success.
Servion is a Twin Cities-based company, and our employees understand the youth homelessness problem in the area. That's why, in 2019, we decided to make HOPE 4 Youth our charity for the year. Employees donated food and money over the course of the year to help support HOPE 4 Youth's incredible efforts.
All told, Servion employees donated nearly $7,000 and several hundred food items during the year. We were also fortunate enough to meet some of HOPE 4 Youth's amazing volunteers and kids. We all consider it a privilege to have had the opportunity to support such a special organization.
If your company or you as an individual are looking for a cause to support in 2020, please consider an organization like HOPE 4 Youth. They are full of people who are giving everything they can to help others, and the people who use their services are truly in need.
